Local villages such as Threlkeld and Braithwaite offer a quiet alternative to the town itself and are within easy walking distance of Keswick or there is an excellent regular bus service to both villages. There is an excellent bridleway / cycle route to Threlkeld along the old railway line from Keswick.
Or if you want to escape the crowds, the peaceful Caldbeck area of the Northern Fells behind Skiddaw, is only 25 minutes drive away.
There are many other attractions to enjoy too, including the Theatre By The Lake, the Pencil Museum, Keswick Mining Museum, Derwentwater Marina and Rheged Discovery Centre (winner of the global “BA Tourism for Tomorrow Awards”).
Keswick Beer Festival is a popular event held each year in June – try out excellent real ales from Cumbria and afar.
Keswick Mountain Festival is a family event running for 5 days held in mid-May every year. Come and discover the adventure by trying out one of our many different outdoor events or attending a speaker event. (If you are attending the Keswick Convention, be sure to book early)
Mountain bike hire is available locally in Keswick town centre from Keswick Mountain Bikes or the Lakeland Peddler.
